Founding Membership FAQ
Who is eligible to become a founding member?
Any academic medical center, health system, urgent care group, or institution with an urgent care medicine mission is eligible. This includes hospitals with urgent care departments, freestanding urgent care networks, academic programs with urgent care training components, and allied health organizations.
What is the cost of founding membership?
Founding institutional membership fees are disclosed during the application process. Founding members receive a 50% discount on all future institutional membership dues for the lifetime of the organization.
What happens after December 31, 2026?
The founding member designation closes permanently — either when all 30 positions are filled or on December 31, 2026, whichever comes first. Institutions that join after that date receive standard membership without founding benefits.
How do founding institutions participate in governance?
Founding institutions receive priority consideration for board positions, committee appointments, and working group leadership. As SAUCM formalizes its governance structure in 2026, founding institutions will have first-right-of-engagement for all elected and appointed roles.
Can individual clinicians also join?
Yes. Individual clinician membership is available separately from institutional founding membership. Individual members access fellowship programs, CME, and journal resources without the institutional founding benefits. See the application page for details.
Only 15 founding institution seats remain
Applications are reviewed within 5 business days. Founding membership closes December 31, 2026 or when all 30 positions are filled.
